Title: TK Console Menu underline is corrupted in zh_CN
Type: Bug Version: 9.0, 8.6
Submitter: anonymous Created on: 2025-01-27 08:26:39

Description:

The keyboard layout of Chinese input methods is the same as that of English keyboards, consisting only of letters and no Chinese characters. Therefore, to successfully bind keyboard access keys, it is necessary to add English letters to the menu labels. For example, &File should be translated as 文件(&F), rather than &文件.

User Comments: jan.nijtmans added on 2025-01-28 20:18:51:

Now fixed in all branches.

Thanks!

Thanks, I appreciate.

The console is only available on Windows and is opened with the command "console show".

To test the print dialog:

text .t
tk print .t

I suppose, that the message keys are only required on some platforms. At least on WIndows, the native dialog is used, which is independent on the message catalog.

Take care, Harald

Python 3.13 is still using Tk version 8.6, and it has not been upgraded to 9.0. You can synchronize the submission with 9.0.1. This has little impact on Python, as Tk console is usually not opened in Python (and I just noticed the existence of the file, but I haven't found a way to open the Tk console.), and these files are not used.

I apologize for the confusion. I did not verify whether the print module works properly because I am not familiar with it. I only verified that the keyboard shortcuts work correctly.

Great, thanks ! I suppose, 9.0b3 is a version within TkInter? Otherwise, it would be great to update to 9.0.1.

@Francois, @others: do you agree merging the branch ?

THanks for all, Harald

I replaced this file in the 9.0b3 release, and it's working fine now!

I apologize for the confusion. I mistakenly mentioned the version number. I meant to say 9.0 and 8.6. I have installed version 9.0 on my computer and only installed version 9.0. I discovered that there is also an incorrect translation file in the 8.6 version of Python, so I added the version number 8.6 in the editing box.

(same comment again with wiki formatting enabled) Great, thanks !

Please see branch [c992660e-cn-shortcuts] starting with commit [930934ef]. Could you please test those modifications?

https://core.tcl-lang.org/tk/file?name=library/msgs/zh_cn.msg&ci=930934ef

You may also extract library/msgs/zh_cn.msgs and copy this file to your distribution.

This is for Tk 8.6. You mentioned 9.0 and 8.5. IMHO, you may take the same file for those versions.

It would also be great, if you could verify the automatic translations by Kevin for the print module added in Tk9:

THanks for all, Harald
