A photo with the wide and normal spinbox on Windows is attached. The following script was executed while package scrollutil is in auto_path:

package require wsb
pack [ttk::spinbox .s1 -style Wide.TSpinbox]
pack [ttk::spinbox .s2]

OK, the creation of a TIP is now in progress.

I propose to discuss it next Monday in the bi-weekly telco.

IMHO, this is an API extension and thus requires a TIP.

I am totally in favor. The TIP process may find additional comments on different platforms.

With Tk built from the wide_spinbox branch, the Wide.TSpinbox style can be used like any other built-in style, by just specifying  -style Wide.TSpinbox.

Immediately after merging this branch into main, I will have to release a new version of the wsb package, in which  package require wsb  will be a no-op if the Tk version is 9.1a1 or later, thus avoiding any conflcts due to already existing elements.  This is important for applications and packages like Tablelist and Scrollutil that should work with older Tk versions, too.

Since adding the Wide.Spinbox style to the core is proposed in this RFE, I think that there is no need for a TIP (?).  Should this assumption be correct, then I could do the merge any time.

I would highly appreciate if someone could test this branch and report back the result.

The implementation of the Wide.TSpinbox layout in the wide_spinbox branch is ready.  I can merge it every time, but I am not sure whether a TIP is needed for it.
