Abstract

This TIP re-affirms that any code hosted on Tcl community resources, e.g. any repository hosted on https://core.tcl-lang.org, must be licensed under the terms of the Tcl license as outlined in the "license.terms" files that are distributed with the Tcl source code.

Rationale

Recent commits to the Tcl core repository and the tcllib repository have included code licensed on terms other than Tcl's. For various reasons, the TCT re-affirms the intent and spirit of Tcl's core license as originally outlined by Tcl's creator, John Ousterhout.

Should anyone seek to include code under a different license than the original Tcl license in a Tcl community repository, please submit that license as a separate TIP to be reviewed and voted on by the TCT.
