As alternative to TIP #702, I propose to leave dde and registry out of the attached zip-file, and simply install them in $INSTALL_DIR/lib. This is the same as was done in Tcl 8.6 | ||||

If Tcl 9.0.1 is coming soon, we should no longer pack the dde and registry extensions into the zip. That will make sure, no endless directories will be created in /tmp during tclsh/wish startup. Even if TIP #702 is the chosen path (which I don't hope, I already created a competing TIP), this brings back the situation to how in was in 8.6, so it is without any danger. Merged to 8.7 and 9.0 now. I will rebase TIP #702, because removing the dll's from the zip-file is done both in this patch and in the TIP #702. In my view, the main reason for rushing TIP #702 is gone now. I prefer to take somewhat more time, and design something better. See: TIP #703 | ||||
