This is the installation manual of Fmail 1.0, as of
November 11, 1999. For a documentation of the available commands you should
read the command reference.
Before starting the installation a few notes:
-
You have managed to unpack this package in a directory of
your choice, whether it was gzipped tar-archive or a
zip-archive. The path of the file you are reading now is
something like
.../fmail1.0/doc/html/fmail_install.html.
The .../fmail1.0-part of it is that we will
call the source-directory from now on.
- For proper operation this package requires that the
following other packages are present on the system you
want to install it on:
- The mail commands depend on Tcl MIME 1.0 or higher.
- And that one depends on Trf 1.8 or higher.
The installation is TEA compliant. You have to
- configure it first, to pick up any known paths from
the configuration of the tcl core.
- Then do a make install.
That was it. Now you can use the fmail application to filter
mail. Well, actually you still have to set up a suitable
~/.fmail, but the contents of the subdirectory dot are
a good start for this.
